Resources for responding to this weekend’s shooting on Brown campus

The nation’s horrible scourge of gun violence came to Brown’s campus on Saturday when a gunman opened fire on a classroom of students prepping for final exams. Two students were killed – Ella Cook and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov .   Nine others were injured; seven are still hospitalized.  In this terrible moment, Stand Strong Brown wants to help the Brown community stand together. Here are some ways that you can help even if you are far from campus.

1. Donation Links

2. Reach out to fellow Brunonians

The campus community is reeling. Classes are cancelled. People are scared and in mourning. If you know someone on campus, please reach out and let them know you are thinking of them. And consider taking a moment to connect with fellow alums, either virtually or in person. These horrible events impact each of us differently, but all of us can bear them better together than alone.

3. Take action

It is easy to view the problem of gun violence as intractable. But students across the country, including one Brown current student who was previously impacted by gun violence in her high school, refuse to stop fighting for change. Please share their message honoring the victims
